Welsh garlic processor Beacon Foods has doubled its production capacity and improved the quality of finished products by investing £90,000 in a new automated line.
This means the company can process around two tonnes of garlic an hour. Managing director Edward Gough said: “Our investment in the new garlic production line maintains our position as one of the top garlic processors in the UK in terms of product quality knowledge and customer service.”
Beacon sources its garlic from Spain and most of it ends up in supermarket ready meals or dishes served in UK restaurants.
This latest investment is part of a rolling programme to maintain, update and upgrade machinery. Beacon has sunk some £165,000 into new packaging equipment this year to offer its product range in single or smaller portion controlled options.
