Glasgow is gearing up to host the British Crop Production Council’s (BCPC) International Plant Protection four-day congress in October, which is promising to tackle some of the industry’s most pertinent questions.

Industry players will gather to discuss how the sector is facing some of its biggest challenges, with topics such as climate change and how the demand for biofuel and bioenergy may change the agricultural map both high on the congress agenda. It will feature more than 40 platform sessions, 160 speakers and 250 poster sessions.

The congress will also take on issues such as responsible stewardship in a world of increasingly sophisticated products, pan-European solutions and food safety, along with the many influences and pressures that affect practical farming today.

“In recognition of these pressures BCPC and IAPPS (International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences) have, with the assistance of many research and commercial organisations, set out to deliver a programme that will be of interest to a worldwide audience of crop production specialists,” said High Oliver-Bellasis, president of the BCPC.

“I look forward to welcoming everyone to this important Congress in Glasgow.”
