The British Crop Production Council has announced the publication of The UK Pesticide Guide 2013.
The council described the book as a valuable reference for anyone needing information on responsible pesticide use and guidance on what pesticide products can be legally and safely used in the UK.
Martin Lainsbury, editor of the guide said: “Products are listed by their active ingredient profile and while nine of these have been deleted [since 2009], 11 new ones have been added. Some of these listings are new combinations of existing actives but some are genuinely new actives and although some are niche products at least we are seeing new actives receiving approval despite the higher environmental hurdles to be met.”
This latest edition includes an environmental action list in the aimed at helping growers boost their biodiversity targets with eight simple environmental land management actions to help make a difference to the farming environment. The approach complements best practice in soil, crop, fertiliser and pesticide management.
