The British Crop Protection Council (BCPC) has reported that work is well underway on its two and half-day congress - a major event in the international crop production and protection calendar.

The BCPC Congress is being relaunched and returning to Glasgow this November, following the formation of an important industry alliance between the BCPC and UBM (owner of Farmers Guardian, Informex USA, and Food Ingredients). The two organisations will partner the running of the world's largest gathering of crop science and technology business professionals.

BCPC’s chairman, Dr Colin Ruscoe, said: “BCPC is extremely pleased to be partnering with UBM in re-launching the congress in 2009. We are confident that UBM’s reach will enable the creation of exciting events into the future. These will have both scientific and commercial interest for a wide range of participants, throughout the whole of the food, feed, fibre and bio-energy production chain.”

The BCPC believes new crop production techniques, compounds and products are needed more than ever with increased pressure on food resources. Research, investment and commercialisation continues to challenge the scientific community and this will be one of the main themes of this year's congress.

The conference programme is being finalised.
