Bayer CropScience China launched a new food-chain partnership project with Metro Group and its Chinese subsidiary Star Farm at last week's Asiafruit Logistica.
The aim of the project, which is located in Jiaxing City, Zheijiang, is the production and marketing of top-quality salad vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers and chillies.
As the technical partner, Bayer CropScience provides growers with crop protection products, Nunhems seeds and tailor-made services. It offers integrated solutions featuring advice on good agricultural practices, environmental protection and food safety.
Dr Birgitt Walz-Tylla, head of food chain management at Bayer CropScience, said: "We are convinced that the best way to ensure high food quality is to connect the dots - bringing farmers, food processors and retailers together in Food Chain Partnership projects. For the benefit of our partners, we focus on increasing marketable yield, traceability and expanding marketing opportunities."
