Barfoots launches Sugar Spotted Corn

Barfoots of Botley has added a bi-coloured corn following years of varietal research.

Sugar Spotted Corn are natural husks grown in the UK and feature a mixture of traditional yellow and cream 'niblets'. They are said to be a first for the UK market and have been in strategic development for the past year.

"Sugar Spotted Corn is a unique offer and has taken focus and determination from both ourselves and Waitrose to bring it to the mainstream for consumer enjoyment," said commercial director Jon Barfoot. "It's also a great testament to our technical team's drive that we can now release the product in commercial volumes.

"Along with its unique look, the corn offers a sweeter taste and refined texture similar to that of our already popular supersweet corn.

"These exciting NPD projects are enabling us to grow customer loyalty and in turn penetration. Ultimately our aim is to see sweetcorn become a staple of the customer's diet."
