Barfoots brings out sweetcorn nibblers

Barfoots of Botley unveiled sweetcorn nibblers aimed at the foodservice sector and next summer’s BBQ market last week.

The sweetcorn range has been extended with the introduction of the 3.5cm cobettes, following investment in new machinery.

Chris Moreman, foodservice business manager at Barfoots of Botley, told FPJ: “We have to start the push in the winter so that everything is in place for the summer market.”

Barfoots has extended its product range to include mangetout, fine beans, chillis and okra in order to “become the premium vegetable supplier”, Moreman said.

The move to pack butternut and gem squash with vacuum-packed filling such as risottos and curries is expected soon.

“There is not always a lot of innovation in the fresh produce category, but are trying to add value to the vegetable category,” Moreman said.
