Aviko has increased its European market share in line with the completion of a double acquisition.
The potato processor has acquired potato processing company Eurofreez and potato trader Seru & Annoot, both based in Belgium, as part of its aggressive growth strategy in the added-value potato product sector.
Eurofreez produces a range of high-quality potato products at its site in Proven, in West Flanders, including a wide range of frozen mashed potatoes and portioned gratins. The company increased its production capacity last year and exports to 65 countries.
Seru & Annoot is a long-standing potato trader that buys potatoes from more than 300 farmers in West Flanders and northern France, many of which are processed by Eurofreez.
Aviko has 12 potato processing facilities in Europe and process 1.7 million tonnes of potatoes every year.
The latest acquisitions will broaden its sourcing operations and European production network.
