The Australian mango crop is preparing to harvest, with production in the Northern Territories one to two weeks early, importers report.
The season is being tipped to start in late September, with low volumes from Darwin and Katherine, building to a peak at the beginning of November.
Chris Abrams from Minor, Weir and Willis said a major flowering in the Darwin region was now underway: “[conditions] can vary as the weather changes, but the main issue is that the crop is one to two weeks early.
“We would hop to be in Australian mangoes by week 40 at the latest. Based on previous years, we would expect to go through to week seven or eight, as Pearl supplements the Kensington Pride season.”
