Asda has introduced a branded 1.5kg pack of East Anglian new potatoes into stores in the region.
The retailer worked alongside dedicated vegetable supplier Fenmarc Produce and its growers to produce the pack, which follows Asda’s success in sourcing local potatoes for Welsh stores.
The grower is AW Mayhew Farms, managed by brothers Philip, Chris and Geoff Mayhew. Philip Mayhew said: “As an East Anglian grower it is great to see our potatoes in the local stores so that the customer knows that they have not been transported for miles. Many customers will have walked past the fields on the footpaths of the Shotley and Felixstowe peninsulas.”
Asda buyer, Drew Kirk said: “The East Anglian branding offers local product for the Asda customer. Local selling will streamline the food chain, remove increasingly unpopular food miles and speed up the process from field to plate.”
