Asda to invest £600m in new stores

Asda is planning to create more than 6,000 jobs this year through new store openings and revamping existing outlets.

At least 15 new stores of different sizes are due to open in 2005, at a cost of around £600 million, with the biggest being a 100,000 square foot superstore in Milton Keynes. Five non-food outlets are also on the agenda and the overall addition to Asda's floorspace will be in the region of one million square feet.
