Asda is giving all of its staff a £12 million Merry Christmas bonus.
The thank you package, which will be distributed between Asda’s 160,000 staff at 347 stores and depots, includes discounts and extra time off work.
Asda people director David Smith said the package was meant to thank staff for their hard work and support over the past 12 months.
Every staff member, including 10,000 seasonal temporary workers, will receive a £20 Christmas gift card to spend in store, £5 towards a Christmas party and a free festive meal.
All permanent workers will be given an extra day’s paid holiday that can be taken either before or after Christmas.
Smith said: “This company can only ever be as good as the people who work here - and we believe we’ve got the best team in Britain.”
