Asda’s Patchway store has celebrated the opening of its smoothie and fruit bar with the help of South Gloucestershire Council’s Active for Life team.

The team joined store manager Mike Jarrett to toast the opening of the exclusive new fresh fruit bar, a first for Asda, and to promote its half-term activities, including skipping, speedball and Patchway’s ‘walk to health’ scheme.

The smoothie and fruit bar is exclusive to Asda Patchway as part of a £3 million redevelopment of the store.

Jarrett said: “I was delighted to welcome the Active for Life team in store to celebrate healthy eating at half term. The customers seemed to really enjoy finding out the benefits of exercise alongside their healthy and delicious smoothies.”

Jonathan Wheeler from Active for Life said: “We were delighted to be the first to try the new smoothies and promote healthy living in Patchway. I would like to thank Asda for inviting us.”

The store make-over is set to finish in early November, with a re-launch celebration on November 12.
