Asda might be looking to replace a third of its suppliers but the retailer is also aiming to recruit nearly 3,000 staff.

The retailer, which said it would be investing £10 million in the recruitment drive, will be looking for 800 new employees in Northern Ireland alone, with a further 2,000 people being taken on across the UK.

The move will see, on average, an extra seven staff for each of Asda’s 289 stores, with new stores also in the pipeline, with four opening in Northern Ireland and five in England and Wales over the next 10 days.
