Asda has seen a fall in market share for the first time in several years, according to latest figures.
The UK’s second largest retailer saw its share at 16.5 per cent for the four weeks to April 24, compared with 16.7 per cent for the same period last year, the latest TNS figures have shown.
Knives are already being sharpened in the city with analysts describing the retailers performance as “really bad” in the national press.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s is having a better time and saw its market share rise from 15.4 per cent to 15.8 per cent for the same period.
Tesco saw the strongest results, going from 27.6 per cent to 29.8 per cent, while Morrisons suffered a significant fall from 14.2 per cent to 11.8 per cent.
