Asda has unveiled a new fruit and veg box that will be delivered straight to customers’ doors.
The retailer says the box will contain 18 fruit and veg items for £20, and represents the best value supermarket fruit and veg box available.
The box holds 12kg of fresh produce, chosen to feed a family of four.
Graeme Fletcher, project manager at Asda’s sourcing and procurement arm, IPL, said:“We’ve listened to which food box our customers want and have developed the contents to suit their needs – a convenient and cost-effective option full to the brim with the freshest fruit and vegetables.
'Not only will it save them time, the opportunities for creating delicious healthy meals and tasty snacks are endless.”
The box will face competition from a surge in delivery box schemes across the country since the start of the coronavirus crisis, as households shop in bulk, better for home cooking.
Wholesale markets were quick to move into delivery boxes after many of them saw their hospitality and foodservice trade decimated with the strict lockdown measures announced in March.
