Argentine exports rise

The exports of fresh fruit from Argentina in the first trimester of 2005 amounted to 410,085 tonnes.

This represents a rise of 26 per cent in volume, compared with the same period in 2004.

According to the phytosanitaity inspection organisation Senasa, the volume of pipfruit exports in this period amounted 330,439t, up 24 per cent.

Apples made up 97,051 tonnes, up 29 per cent, while pears rose 18 per cent in volume.
