'We are delighted that APS has been awarded UKAS EN45011,' said APS chairman Chris Payne. 'This achievement enhances the credibility of APS which was the first horticulture-based farm assurance scheme in the world and is a reflection of the robust standards within the scheme as well as the of the dedication and commitment of the team at scheme operator CMi.' APS has 3,800 members across the UK growing a full range of fresh produce. All members have to adhere to specific crop protocols concerning food and environmental safety. They are also eligible to apply for a licence to market their produce under the red tractor logo launched by the National Farmers' Union for APS and assurance schemes in other spheres of UK agriculture.

APS has been operated by CMi since it was launched in 1997 with the support of the NFU and UK retailers to promote produce grown using integrated crop management and good agricultural practice.
