The European apricot season is winding down early as warm spring conditions take their toll on storage quality.
“Apricots have finished now,” said one importer. “There are just some very small volumes coming out of cold store, but everything has sold pretty quickly this year as it has just not had the legs on it for storage as the weather brought fruit on early.”
As the last fruit from Spain sells it will leave a two-month gap before the new arrivals of apricots from South Africa dock at the beginning of November.
