Growers must be pro-active to revitalise the ailing UK fruit industry, Worldwide Fruit chief Alasdair Robertson told the Parliamentary British Fruit Industry Group on Monday.

In a presentation to delegates at a meeting in the House of Lords, Robertson outlined issues affecting UK grower viability, and said they could be overcome.

He told delegates that the reason why the UK did not sell as much fruit as its competitors, was down to a lack of clear direction and refusal to confront the issue.
