Organic growing charity Garden Organic is holding an apple day at its flagship gardens at Ryton, Warks on October and its kitchen garden at Audley End on September 30 with English Heritage. is working with English Heritage. “We grow many old varieties of apples at our sites, each with a unique look and flavour, such as Blenheim Orange, known since 1740 or Sunset, bred in 1918, said Bob Sherman, director of gardens for the charity. “Nothing could be more scrumptious than biting into an apple straight from the tree but many supermarkets only stock a very limited range. We want to show people how many flavours are out there and how easy they can be to grow.”

The events will feature tastings and gardening advice sessions asd well as apple-themed activities. More details from it www.gardenorganic.org.uk
