Spanish farm minister Rosa Aguilar has reacted angrily to the proposals of her French counterpart Bruno Le Maire last week to placate angry growers in his country with a series of measures including increased control over Spanish fresh produce sendings.

Aguilar said she “totally rejected” an increase in French controls over Spanish farm exports and that she will bring the matter up at a summit meeting due between the two ministers in Paris on Tuesday. She added that Spanish produce is “excellent and of very high quality” and that it “meets all the quality standards set by the [European] community”.
