The entente cordiale between New Covent Garden Market (NCGM) and its Parisian counterpart Rungis was formally ratified last week.
Baroness Brenda Dean, chairman of Covent Garden Market Authority, and Marc Spielrein, president of Rungis market authority Semmaris, both pictured, met at NCGM to sign a contract which sees 24-year-old Charles Davous installed in the London market as brand ambassador for Rungis until December 2008.
Davous, Jan Lloyd, chief executive of NCGM, and David Bourganel, Semmaris director of marketing and communication, attended the official signing and toasted the agreement with a glass of champagne.
The partnership between the two market authorities aims at sharing information and experience in developing and promoting the markets, and offering the best possible products through the wholesale trade.
This partnership is the second of its kind this year for Rungis; another was agreed in July with Mercamadrid, the market authority of Madrid’s wholesale market.
