Cambridge-based Anglia Business Solutions Ltd has acquired Norwich-based Supply Chain Systems Ltd (SCS) from its US parent AgriWise Inc.

Anglia, which supplies business management software and hardware to the fresh food industry, has acquired the UK business and intellectual property rights from AgriWise in a share purchase agreement on undisclosed terms

SCS managing director Jimmy Moir said: “We have been working with Anglia Business Solutions for some time now, and it is evident that this company has a superb technology platform from which to accelerate the next stage of development of our existing business model, both in current and new business sectors."

The move will allow Anglia to add the PickWise application into its LINKFresh platform, which uses a Microsoft Dynamics and .NET development base.

The existing SCS client support team in Norwich remains in place and will be complemented by an experienced group in Cambridge. Anglia has said “no change” approach to the PickWise software programmes for 2009 will be employed to ensure a smooth start to the season for all current and brand new system users this year.

“The nature of this agreement with Anglia means that AgriWise has a continuing interest in the success of the UK business and there will be an ongoing collaboration between our development teams both in the UK and North America,” said Moir.

Anglia managing director David Hurley said: “This acquisition is strategic for Anglia as it leverages SCS’s proven expertise within the grower community. We already have plans for how the PickWise system can be enhanced.

“This will provide growers with access to state-of-the-art technologies and advanced applications already incorporated into our award-winning mobility solutions. The initiative will also extend the scope of the LINKFresh suite from the seed to the fork, making it the most comprehensive fresh produce solution in the market.”
