Specialist supplier of food and produce-cutting equipment Tritin has not only recently moved premises to a brand new facility near to its old site in Peterborough, it has also changed its name.
The company now trades under the banner FAM UK, having come 100 per cent under the ownership of FAM following the retirement of Tritin’s founder, John Callcut. FAM is already Europe’s number-one supplier of food-cutting machinery, and FAM UK aims to become the UK fruit and vegetable sector’s number-one choice for cutting machinery by the end of this year.
From April 16-20, FAM will be holding an open week, during which invited guests and customers, both old and new, will be able to visit the company’s brand new state-of-the-art facility.
“Our new premises cater for visiting customers perfectly, with a reception area leading to offices and meeting rooms,” said the company’s David Barber.
“The board room is ideal for presentations, and customers can go straight from a meeting into the test kitchen facilities next door. This gives them the chance to see the machines in action, slicing and dicing their product, a real try-before-you-buy experience,” he continued.
On each of the five days, FAM will look at specific areas, for instance hyigene or the range of cuts, and show how the firm differs from its competitors.
“We expect to see over 100 companies over the five days and are keen to prove that although the name may have changed, the company continues to maintain its high standards,” explained Barber. “Our location in Peterborough also means we are centrally-placed to get out on the road to service or deliver machinery and parts.”
Stock levels are huge at the new facility, with around £150,000-200,000 in spare parts and over £200,000 of machinery based on site.
“With these levels plus immediate access to stocks in Belgium, FAM can ensure customers’ down-time is reduced,” said Barber.
Originally founded in 1983, Tritin sold cutting blades and specialist equipment to the food processing industry throughout the UK and Ireland, supplying Stumabo International and FAM food-cutting machinery products, as well as Bertocchi, Boema and Tripax. Stumabo, FAM’s sister company, is the food industry’s single largest blade manufacturer. “We have a solid history and a bright future,” said Barber. “Our knowledge and expertise in specialist machinery ensures we offer our customers not only the best-quality equipment, but also peace of mind."
