Aldi continues to support ParalympicsGB

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket will be supporting ParalympicsGB athletes as they work towards the Milano-Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, as well as the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, the French Alps 2030 Paralympic Winter Games and the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.

Aldi has been an official sponsor of ParalympicsGB since 2022, and with the latest agreement the partnership will now span a full decade. The collaboration also builds on Aldi’s existing partnership with Team GB, which the supermarket has supported since 2015.

Aldi noted that over that time Team GB and ParalympicsGB have reached more than three million young people as part of the ‘Get Set to Eat Fresh’ initiative – a free, school-based education programme that teaches children about affordable healthy eating.

‘Get Set to Eat Fresh’ is brought to life by ParalympicsGB and Team GB athletes and helps children aged 5-14 develop the skills required to cook nutritious, affordable meals.

Kyrsten Halley, marketing director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re proud to extend our partnership with ParalympicsGB through to the Brisbane 2032 Games. This decade-long commitment reflects our shared values of inclusivity, determination and community.

“Together, we aim to inspire the next generation through initiatives like Get Set to Eat Fresh while supporting ParalympicsGB athletes in achieving their goals on the world stage.”

Aldi named ‘cheapest supermarket’ again

Meanwhile, Aldi has been named as the UK’s cheapest supermarket by The Grocer in its independent price comparison survey.

The study on a basket of 33 everyday items indicated that there remains a gap between Aldi and the four largest full-price supermarkets – Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons – which came out 16 per cent more expensive.

Julie Ashfield, managing director for buying at Aldi, said: “The latest data confirms that our prices simply can’t be matched and our customers know that the only place to get Aldi prices is by shopping at Aldi.

“Other supermarkets can try and compete with us through loyalty schemes and flashy promotions but the only thing on a roll is Aldi, being named the best on price time after time. That’s because our promise to our customers is straightforward and simple – they will make significant savings every time they shop with us.”
