The International Association of Horticulture Producers’ (AIPH) annual conference is set to take place next week in Brighton, marking the association’s 60th birthday.

The conference will take place on September 3, and will be opened by the AIPH’s Deputy President, Meurig Raymond.

Speakers at the conference will tackle a range of the industry’s most burning issues, including current trends in the use of flowers and plants, and carbon footprinting in the ornamentals sector.

Kent-based pot and bedding plant grower and NFU representative to the AIPH council, Lionel Mills, said: I am delighted we are hosting this year’s congress. It will provide a unique opportunity for growers from around the world to meet and exchange view on what is happening in the world of ornamental horticulture.

“The congress sessions provide an excellent opportunity to explain what is happening in ornamental horticulture in the UK and to tackle world-wide issues such as plant health.”

The NFU’s Horticulture board chairman Richard Hirst added: “As well as the formal sessions, delegates at the conference will have the opportunity to visit a number of nurseries on the south coast, providing a real insight into the world class industry that is the British ornamental industry.”
