Agronomy giant Agrovista UK has bought independent seed wholesaler and breeder John Ebbage Seeds.

The purchase will combine existing technical expertise to provide a “full agronomic package” from variety selection through to end-market focus, a statement from Agrovista said.

In addition, it will bring future security for Ebbage Seeds and allow the company to serve existing customers, as well as develop new clients.

The acquisition will also bring access to new and emerging market sectors and enhanced technical capability. All Ebbage Seeds staff will transfer to Agrovista UK.

John Ebbage Seeds owner Paul Nickerson said: “This strategic move will benefit both businesses and their customers allowing for technical development and investment in the seeds sector and offering important opportunities for growth.

“The partnership will allow the continuation of the existing Ebbage business model for current clients whilst opening new areas to evolve the business with Agrovista.”

Chris Clayton, managing director of Agrovista said the development will “enable strategic growth for Agrovista” within the seed sector. “We are delighted to welcome Paul and the team from Ebbage into Agrovista and look forward to building on their outstanding success,” he said.
