Agrexco's Yuval variety

Agrexco has started importing strawberries to the UK once again in what it hopes will be a “grand entrance to the market” after months out of the game.

The Israeli company expects volumes of its Yuval and Orly strawberry varieties to match, if not exceed, last season’s quantities and said demand is looking good.

UK branch manager Dudi Vaknine said: “We have been given an opportunity to reshape the company the way we want. We can learn from mistakes made in the past and use this to make improvements for the future.

“The structure of ‘new’ Agrexco has now been established. We have a strong team based at HQ in Israel and branches over Europe and the UK.

“The mission for the team in Israel now is to reconnect with the growers we have worked with for many years.

“Whilst the Agrexco office in Israel will focus on local supply, the branches will also source from the rest of the world to strengthen the supply cycle.

“We want to give our customers complete availability from one point of contact whilst ensuring their confidence of the highest quality and standards Agrexco and the “Carmel” brand is renowned for.”
