Agrexco confirmed as Re:fresh Awards sponsor

Agrexco UK has signed up as a sponsor of the Re:fresh Awards 2005.

The company will present the accolade of Carmel Foodservice Supplier of the Year 2005 to the category winner, during a ceremony at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square, on May 5 next year.

UK general manager Amos Orr said: “The bottom line is we want to support excellence within fresh produce. Companies performing consistently better than their competitors should be recognised.

“We see significant potential for expansion of fresh produce in foodservice. Carmel-branded product being sold in this sector has certainly increased as a percentage of the total Agrexco UK sales in recent seasons, across a wide range of products including herbs, melons, potatoes, avocados and strawberries.”

At least 40 per cent of the fresh produce sold in the UK goes through non-supermarket channels and the foodservice sector is forecast to expand substantially in the next five years. “Our commitment to the non-supermarket side of our business has never wavered,” said Orr. “We recognise the benefits of a two-fold supply strategy and hope our sponsorship of this award gives us an even greater focus on meeting the needs of foodservice suppliers in the future.”
