Agrexco has acquired worldwide exclusivity for the distribution of all strawberry varieties bred by Fertiseeds.
Fertiseeds is an Israeli company that breeds unique strawberry varieties, including the Yuval and Orly cultivars, both of which took 10 years to breed, contain elevated brix levels and have full colour, good resistance levels and long shelf life.
With Fertiseeds, Agrexco aims to keep breeding other strawberry varieties, through a dedicated and experienced team led by Professor Shamay at Fertiseeds and working with Ronen Biton at Agrexco Tel Aviv.
The new agreement means Agrexco has acquired the exclusive rights to grow and export directly from Israel all of the strawberry varieties Fertiseeds cultivates. The exporter will also have the worldwide rights to market saplings and be able to enter into exclusive agreements with its customers.
Oded Yacovson, head of Agrexco’s UK office, said: “Fertiseeds’ varieties ripen very early and can reach the markets in time for Christmas, before any other varieties worldwide. The demand for these varieties comes mainly from the leading UK multiples.”
