The event was attended by producers, exporters, trade associations, ministers, academics and research scientists from Burkina Faso, the Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia as well as importers and distributors from the EU.

The workshops focused on European food safety demands, ColeACP's pesticides initiative programme, plant health of fresh produce and meeting market demands on product quality.

The seminar also called for greater exchange of information between relevant organisations such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation and ColeACP. There was also a recommendation that the banking sector and other fund providers make financial instruments more accessible to small-scale fresh produce and horticulture operators in francophone Africa. Delegates concluded hat they needed to be better organised and structured within their own countries with national task forces and by becoming more active in international activities such as the Codex committees.
