ADC Bioscientific introduces new device

ADC BioScientific Ltd has introduced a portable instrument for the quantitative measurement of green fluorescent protein in intact leaf samples.

The Green fluorescent protein (GFP) meter has been developed to enable crop and environmental researchers to distinguish between intact genetically modified and non-genetically modified plants in the field.

GFP is used as a genetic marker in genetically modified plants and crops and is only detectable when the marked gene is expressed.

The complete compact system weighs only 1kg and is designed for rugged field use. The battery-powered system will operate for up to 30 hours.
