Acorn Labels of St Ives, Cambridgeshire has achieved the British Retail Consortium standard.

Acorn sales director Ben Child describes the award as a big achievement and an ideal way to cap the company's 10th year in the business.

Child said: “Acquiring the BRC standard is crucial for our growth. The supermarkets are forever raising the standard bar and as a supplier to the fresh produce industry it's important to keep up. Traceability is essential these days, and we now have a full system for recall should a situation arise.”

Child is hoping the accreditation brings its rewards. He said: “We are hoping this will put Acorn in the shop window when supermarket label tenders come around. Service has been our main selling point in the past, but we can now back it up with quality assurance.”
