Abel & Cole, the organic box scheme, has announced that it is to extend its business across the UK. The company currently delivers boxes of fruit, vegetables and meat directly from more than 60 British farmers to 48,000 consumers in the South East each week.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed to carry out a strategic review in autumn and is expected to value the company at approximately £55 million.

Following the review, the company is expected to sell some its equity to finance the purchase of more depots, delivery vans and production sites across the UK.

Abel & Cole reported pre-tax profits of £3.1m on a turnover of £20m last year and this figure is expected to reach £30m in 2007.
