A first for Red Tractor

Assured Food Standards (AFS) is launching the first ever Red Tractor Week, which will run from July 9-15.

The week will be launched on July 9, by MP's racing mini red tractors supplied by Massey Ferguson in Covent Garden.

Celebrity chef James Tanner will be fronting the activities and will be on hand to promote the scheme through radio interviews and press articles, and has also supplied a number of recipes. One of them will appear alongside dishes by Ainsley Harriett and Ian Botham in the Red Tractor celebrity recipe booklet.

Red Tractor Week will also be taking to the road and visiting the Great Yorkshire Show through the NFU Food and Farming Roadshow, which will focus on promoting Red Tractor throughout the Week.

Tesco, Sainsbury, Budgens and Brakes foodservice will all be promoting Red Tractor Week in all number of ways; through their magazines, in-store promotions, regional press competitions, recipe demonstrations and samplings.

Colin Smith, chairman of AFS said: “Red Tractor Week gives a great opportunity for all our supporters to tell shoppers about the high standards of food safety and animal welfare to which Red Tractor food is farmed in the UK and to look out for the logo when shopping.”
