3-D flower display at CRS

The flower category has played a growing part in the convenience sector, according to exhibitors at the Convenience Retailing Show 2007, which kicked off at the Birmingham NEC on Tuesday.

A number of innovative flower display units were showcased at the event.

Design Deliver Display Ltd featured a prototype flower container with an interchangeable graphics panel and a forecourt display both designed for its major customer Flowerfete.

Director Jon Farthing said: “We tailor-make everything to what our customer wants, whether it be a stand for fruit or flowers, or any other product.

“Flowerfete asked us to design a container around the procona [shipping container for flowers] so that it could be slotted straight into the display container, rather than transferred into buckets, which minimises the handling of the flowers and means they are les likely to get damaged.”

The company creates its designs in-house to reduce costs for the customer.

Designer Tim Oakley said: “We keep in close contact with our clients to find out the layout they want, the number of buckets and trays they need on their display units, and what works for them.

“But a lot of our designs are flexible so you can add buckets, say for Mothers’ Day, so the unit can hold up to 80 bouquets, and remove them at times of decreased capacity.”
