Bayer CropScience has completed its acquisition of farming pest management firm AgraQuest for around £270 million.

The company believes AgraQuest will play a crucial role in furthering Bayer's ability to produce sustainable crop solutions and seed treatment for the agri-industry.

Bayer CEO Sandra Peterson said AgraQuest will help Bayer CropScience achieve its goal to turn over £784 million in its fruits and vegetables business by 2020.

"This acquisition strengthens our strategically important fruits and vegetables business," Peterson added.

"The global market for Green Products is expected to increase significantly over the years to come and we see additional growth opportunities in all agricultural crops."
