Family-run, based in the UK but boasting a truly global reach, exotics specialist Wealmoor has made the top 20 of the FPJ Big 50 2015.
With a turnover equating to around an eighth of a billion, Wealmoor has come a long way since it started in 1973.
Director Avnish Malde says: “Our heritage, and deep rooted and shared values, underpin strong links and investments in the communities in which we operate. These are central to the business principles and the way relationships have been built with suppliers and customers over a long period of time.
“The company focuses on creating, nurturing and building outstanding sources through providing strong leadership and a clear vision for its growers. The business has vast experience in these sectors, and has had a history of commercialising export horticulture in several countries.”
Along with supplying leading retailers, Wealmoor serves the foodservice, wholesale and independent sectors too, as well as supplying top-quality produce to major restaurants.
The future holds plenty of excitement too. Malde adds: “We’ve continued to invest to stay ahead. Over the last 12 months, and the next 12 to 18 months, there has been and will be extensive focus on investment in grower-led production, both overseas and in the UK, varietal development, ripening facilities, and large levels of automation within the supply chain.”
