Reports emanating from a Sunday Express article suggest that WM Morrison Supermarkets is in talks with property tycoons Sol and Eddie Zakay to sell 26 of its store sites for a fee in the region of £1 billion.
Morrisons said earlier this month that it is prepared to realise the value of its property assets to steer itself clear of any potential takeover attempt, but declined to comment to the Sunday newspaper.
Neither was any comment forthcoming from Topland, the firm owned by the Zakay brothers.
