Nick Scrase, chief executive of Asda's produce supply arm International Procurement and Logistics (IPL), has left the company after seven years in the role.
The food industry veteran, who has worked in the sector for more than 30 years, moved to work at the retailer’s subsidiary in February 2010 following Asda’s acquisition of IPL. Prior to this, he spent five years as Asda’s commercial director.
Scrase helped IPL expand beyond fresh produce into protein, wine and groceries, with the company claiming to be the biggest single importer of produce in the UK.
During his time at the company, Scrase travelled frequently, having a particular interest in developing food supply chains in Africa, according to his LinkedIn profile.
