Potato firm Kent Potato Company (KPC) will officially cease operations following a period of consultation with employees, parent company Produce Investments has announced.
The anticipated closure date is 1 December while employees have agreed to end the 45-day consultation period ahead of the planned deadline of 23 November.
Some staff will now be transferred to vacancies on other sites or offered training support, Produce Investments said.
The company said it is important to pay tribute to KPC employees for their “extremely professional manner” during this difficult process.
Announced as a propose closure as part of a report to the City last month, KPC said it was expecting to lose a key retail contract that may lead to its closure.
