Catering supplier Reynolds has named horticulture graduate Megan Garwood as stonefruit and berries buyer, with a special emphasis on procurement of seasonal produce.
Garwood, who started at the company last year before being promoted to her new role, worked on the company’s recent seasonality project, which involved coordinating seasonal fresh produce lines throughout the business and communicating that to customers.
Reporting to senior buyer Matt Jones, Garwood's new role will cover all negotiations with suppliers across the stonefruit, berries and other seasonal categories.
“I started in June 2014 and to date I have been working on various cross-departmental projects which have helped me to learn about Reynolds and the industry as a whole,” she said.
“It is an exciting time. Having responsibility is a daunting prospect but I have the support of many experienced people at Reynolds, who will be able to guide me through.”
Garwood studied horticulture at Writtle College, in Essex, where her final year studies focused on plant biology and postharvest technology. Her dissertation was on the respiration rates in cherries using shelf-enhancement and was supervised by Dr Chris Bishop.
