Total Produce plc continues on its acquisition trail with the announcement this week from chairman of Total Produce Ltd Denis Punter that the company has acquired the trade and trading assets of Crewe-based fresh produce distributor J Harrison & Son.
The Cheshire company, which specialises in trade with the foodservice and wholesale sectors, has a turnover of some £4 million annually.
Punter said the operation will continue to service its existing customer base, and will carry on being managed by the Harrison family and its team.
Punter said: “I am delighted to welcome Paul Harrison and the team to Total Produce Ltd. It is a relatively small distributive wholesale business that we have known for some time.”
Overall the contribution to turnover is small - just one per cent of TP Ltd’s figure - but the move makes sense for both businesses. “It adds another dimension to our network and extends it,” said Punter. “They join us at an exciting time and we look forward to a long and successful association,” he added.
