Major salad veg producer has supplied food redistribution organisation with wide range of vegetables over past seven years

Fareshare strengthens communities by taking food that would otherwise go to waste and giving it people in need

Lettuce is just one of the vegetables that G’s donates to FareShare

Salads and veg grower G’s has donated more than four million meals to FareShare since first partnering with the food redistribution charity back in 2017.

The partnership helps FareShare support its network of over 8,000 charities, which reach over a million people in need across the UK.

In the UK, huge volumes of good-to-eat fruit and veg are wasted on farms every year. And today over 13 million people are facing food insecurity in the UK, a figure that has doubled in the last three years.

G’s has worked with its local business units to supply a range of produce to FareShare, including lettuce, celery, radish, beetroot, mushrooms, beans and spring onions.

Chief operating officer at G’s Fresh, Kuldip Kular, said the company is “extremely proud” of the work its farming and factory teams have done with FareShare over the past seven years to find innovative solutions to maximise the volume of high-quality surplus produce donated.

Director of food at FareShare, Simon Millard, said he was “incredibly grateful for the support”.

He added: “Demand for our food has skyrocketed, and the charities we provide food to have seen first-hand how more and more families and working people have been forced to seek help.

“Food insecurity, which currently effects one in five people, fuels both hunger and loneliness. The charities we support, which include homelessness shelters, afterschool clubs, and older people’s lunch clubs, will be working harder than ever this winter.”
