A band that performs songs about fruit and vegetables to educate children about healthy eating and food is looking for industry backing.
The Barrow Band, which boasts songwriter Malcolm Le Maistre of 70s group The Incredible String Band, has just released its second CD, and has a range of tour dates booked across the UK.
It comprises six multi-instrumentalists who perform songs about produce, including one about wonky veg, at family-friendly music and food festivals, schools and local events.
Band representative Mary Gajenska said the group has been approached by Scottish potato giant Albert Bartlett with a potential offer of a promotional tie-up, but any commercial backing would be welcome.
“We need people to know about us – industry backing would be wonderful and the best thing for us,” she said.
The group has some funding from the Scottish Arts Council, Gajenska said, and has also been approached by the NHS and the Wellcome Trust.
