Fruit Logistica

Fruit Logistica takes place on 2-5 February 2016

British fresh produce exports will be in the spotlight at next month’s Fruit Logistica thanks to a new AHDB Exports stand at the industry’s biggest trade fair.

The British exhibitors are usually hosted by the AHDB, but this year brings a greater focus on exports to coincide with the AHDB’s reshuffle and new aim to develop overseas business.

Located in Hall 8.2 stand B-06, the AHDB Exports stand will host nine companies including produce suppliers, crop science and technology firms and government plant health officials.

Co-exhibitors at the event include: A C Goatham, Angus Soft Fruits, Bedfordshire Growers, Cranfield University, Frederick Hiam, James Hutton Ltd, Moorhouse & Mohan, Skea Organics and SASA (Scottish Government).

As well as an increased exhibition space, this year’s newly-designed stand will offer co-exhibitors own-branded pods, including plasma touch-screen computers, seating for meetings and two hospitality areas with complimentary refreshments throughout the show.

Steve Tones, horticulture strategy director at AHDB said: “Export remains an untapped area of opportunity for many businesses within the potato and horticulture supply chain.

“The aim of taking representatives from potato and horticulture businesses to join AHDB at Fruit Logistica is to provide an affordable way for these industries to attend this major event and provide a high profile presence to support their export activity. Participation in this event grows year-on-year and it is positive to see so many more horticultural businesses getting involved this year.”

Robert Burns, head of seed and export at AHDB Potatoes, said: “We’re excited about our newly-branded exports stand at Fruit Logistica, which features more exhibitors than ever this year. Our joint industry endeavour shows the strengths of the UK potato and horticulture sectors at Fruit Logistica and we look forward to supporting our industry in Berlin next February.”

Alongside the new AHDB Exports stand, the UK Reception will take place on Thursday 4 February at 4-6pm.

It will be opened by the head of UKTI, Tony Sims OBE and the AHDB’s chairman, Sir Peter Kendall. Other members of AHDB’s export marketing team will be on hand to talk to visitors about export promotions.
