So-called BanaBino baby bananas and Tommy Atkins and Kent variety mangoes are set to join the established line up of conventional, organic and Fairtrade bananas, pineapples and plantains in the BanaBay product range.
Grown in Ecuador, BanaBinos are the mini version of BanaBay’s premium Cavendish variety bananas, and it is hoped that they will appeal to the children’s market for healthy snacking, perhaps being included in school lunchboxes.
Birmingham-headquartered BanaBay is making its second appearance at Fruit Logistica as a globally-recognised fresh produce brand, and will be showcasing the new product lines at the event in Germanty.
As well as the new fruit ranges on display, the BanaBay stand will be hosting cookery demonstrations with an emphasis on health and fitness in line with the appointment of Team GB high jumper Mike Edwards as brand ambassador.
Edwards goes into UK schools to promote sport and fitness to children, highlighting the importance of including foods like BanaBay bananas in a training and performance diet.
