Fresh produce business Wealmoor scooped a top accolade at the Institute of Grocery Distribution’s (IGD) award ceremony this week.
The growers and importers took the Co-operative award for ethical responsibility for its collaboration with growers in Kenya to complete the largest dam in the country, providing year-round employment for the farms.
Middlesex-based Wealmoor was among 11 companies and two individuals, including Jacqueline Stewart of Squeeze Juice Cafés, that were handed awards in recognition of outstanding work.
Joanne Denney-Finch, IGD chief executive, said: “It is always an honour to share the success of colleagues in the food and grocery industry who are making significant achievements through their hard work and sheer talent.
“The Food Industry Awards recognise the best-in-class and demonstrate some of the most exciting new thinking in our sector. As an industry we have a fantastic story to tell, so we should celebrate with great pride these companies and individuals that are leading the way within our industry.”
