Avocado Week will include retailer tastings and consumer engagement

The Peruvian Hass Avocado Association (ProHass) will reintroduce Avocado Week to the UK this summer after sales grew by 35 per cent between April 2015 and March 2016.

Running from 4-10 July, Avocado Week will include retail promotions and tastings, consumer advertising, and a media campaign to highlight taste, usage and health benefits.

Social media coverage will include a short, shareable recipe video on the Delicious Avocados Facebook page and the Twitter account @AvocadoBrother Twitter.

Arturo Medina, general manager of ProHass, said: “Avocados have captured the imagination of UK shoppers, who are eating them in much larger volumes. ProHass has been supporting sales in this market since 2009 and we are delighted to see that sales are increasing significantly.

“We are committed to working closely with retailers and the media to build on the momentum with targeted promotional activity that aims to boost consumption during the summer further still.”

ProHass represents growers of Peruvian Hass avocados, which are in season between May and September.

Avocado Week last ran in 2011 the UK during the Chilean season for Hass avocados, and is run by ProHass in coordination with the newly-formed World Avocado Organisation.
